In the Lebap velayat, 130,000 hectares of land have been sown with grain crops during the current season. This year it is planned to harvest 310,000 tons of wheat, the country’s main staple food.
Thorough preparation for the responsible season, the effective use of powerful machinery, and the implementation of work in accordance with agronomic standards are producing positive results. The timely completion of wheat sowing ensured good seedlings in all etraps of the velayat.
At present, organized crop-care activities are being carried out in the fields. Notably, this season the fields were planted with high-yield wheat varieties that have been tested and highly rated: “Alekseich,” “Bezostaya-100,” “Batko,” and “Kalym,” as well as varieties developed by scientists — “Berkarar,” “Bagtyýarlyk,” and “Sähraýy.”
The use of powerful machinery from the companies John Deere and CLAAS, belonging to the Lebapobahyzmat Association, along with modern towed mechanisms for fertilizing crops with mineral and organic fertilizers, contributes to the productivity of the work. At present, activities to apply additional mineral fertilizers and irrigation are nearing completion in the fields. A total of 26,000 tons of urea are planned to be applied across the entire area of 130,000 hectares. This means that on average more than 200 kilograms of fertilizer per hectare will be used.
The comprehensive work being carried out in the green fields of the velayat indicates that a solid foundation has been laid for a rich harvest of white wheat, the adornment of our dastarkhans.
