The 9th meeting of the Subcommittee on Humanitarian Cooperation within the framework of the Turkmen–Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan G.Sh. Myradalyev and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China Gao Zheng.

The parties discussed priority areas of humanitarian cooperation, primarily in the fields of education and human capital development, as well as the Chinese language and academic cooperation.

In these areas, particular attention was paid to issues of academic mobility, the quality of specialist training, and the further institutionalization of cooperation.

It was emphasized that, according to data for the 2025–2026 academic year, more than 7,000 citizens of Turkmenistan are studying at higher education institutions in China. In this regard, the parties considered proposals to improve the academic readiness of candidates for study and the possible piloting of preliminary assessment mechanisms.

The importance of developing joint projects, including the establishment of centers of competence and joint laboratories, was also noted.

Among the key topics, the participants discussed the professional development of Chinese language teachers and the joint preparation of educational and methodological materials. Interest was expressed in expanding participation in scientific conferences and academic competitions, as well as in supporting publication activities.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on the final wording and signed the Protocol of the meeting, outlining further concrete steps for the development of humanitarian and educational cooperation.

The parties confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening humanitarian and traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.
