White City Ashgabat 2026: Architecture, Innovation and Sustainable Development

Preparations are underway in the capital of Turkmenistan for the 25th Multi-sector International Exhibition and Conference “White City Ashgabat 2026 (WCA 2026),” scheduled to take place on 24–25 May 2026. Traditionally held in celebration of Ashgabat City Day — the white-marble capital of independent and permanently neutral Turkmenistan — the international forum is organised within the framework of the large-scale transformations taking place in the country during the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State.

Under the leadership of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a consistent state policy is being implemented aimed at modernising the national economy, developing modern urban infrastructure and introducing innovative technologies across key sectors of society. Particular emphasis is placed on creating a comfortable and environmentally sustainable urban environment that meets the highest international standards.

In this context, the International Exhibition and Conference “White City Ashgabat” represents an important component of the broader national efforts aimed at further developing the capital as a modern centre of architecture, innovation and sustainable development.

In 2026, the forum will be held under the motto “Architecture. Innovation. Sustainable Development.” reflecting the strategic priorities of modern urban development — the harmonious integration of architectural excellence, innovative technologies and environmentally responsible approaches to building sustainable cities.

An International Platform for Constructive Dialogue

Over the years, the White City Ashgabat International Exhibition and Conference has established itself as an authoritative international platform for discussing key issues related to urban development, architecture, construction, industry and infrastructure.

The 24th edition of the forum, held in 2025, brought together more than 550 delegates from over 30 countries, including representatives of government institutions, international organisations, leading architectural and engineering companies, as well as international financial institutions.

The participation of respected international organisations and major global companies confirmed the growing international interest in the infrastructure and development projects being implemented in Turkmenistan. Against this backdrop, WCA 2026 is expected to attract an even broader international audience, further expanding opportunities for professional dialogue, knowledge exchange and the development of new business partnerships.

Investment Agreements and Practical Outcomes

Importantly, the White City Ashgabat exhibition and conference serves not only as a discussion platform but also as an effective mechanism for strengthening international economic cooperation. This was clearly demonstrated during the 2025 forum, where a number of significant agreements were signed. Among them, the Ashgabat City Administration signed a contract worth over USD 54 million with the Chinese company Zoomlion Environmental Industry Co. Ltd. for the supply of 960 units of specialised municipal equipment to further modernise the city’s municipal services and introduce advanced environmental management technologies.

Another important milestone was the signing of a contract between the State Concern “Turkmenhimiya” and South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction for the construction of a mineral fertiliser production complex at the Turkmenabat chemical plant, with a total value of USD 682 million. The implementation of this project represents a significant step in the development of Turkmenistan’s chemical industry and the expansion of its export potential.

In addition, the forum hosted more than 100 bilateral meetings, providing international companies and representatives of Turkmenistan’s government institutions with an opportunity to discuss new investment initiatives and explore areas for future cooperation.

Ashgabat 2045: A Strategy for the Development of a Modern Capital

Continuing the discussion on the strategic development of the capital, one of the key topics of the upcoming forum will be the implementation of the Ashgabat 2045 Development Strategy.

This long-term strategy envisages the further development of the capital as a modern administrative, economic and cultural centre, including the introduction of innovative urban planning solutions, expansion of urban infrastructure and increased environmental sustainability.

Particular attention during the conference will be given to the development of smart city solutions, modernisation of transport and municipal infrastructure, the implementation of digital urban management systems and the construction of energy-efficient buildings.

Arkadag — A New Model of a Modern City

Within the broader discussion of modern urban development, particular attention will be devoted to the development of the city of Arkadag, which is increasingly viewed as a new model of a modern city and a symbol of Turkmenistan’s innovative approach to urban planning.

Built using advanced architectural and engineering solutions, Arkadag represents a striking example of the integration of modern technologies, digital urban management systems and environmentally responsible approaches to urban development.

The development of Arkadag as a next-generation smart city opens up broad opportunities for international cooperation in architecture, construction, energy and industry.

A Forum for Global Investment Dialogue

The upcoming conference will also serve as an important platform for the presentation of new investment projects and technological solutions aimed at further developing the country’s construction, industrial and energy sectors.

A number of new contracts and memoranda of cooperation are expected to be signed, alongside the presentation of promising projects in areas such as:

  • development of modern urban infrastructure and architecture
  • implementation of innovative construction technologies
  • development of energy systems and sustainable energy solutions
  • gas-chemical and chemical industry projects
  • production of modern construction materials and industrial development.

In this regard, the forum will contribute to strengthening international economic cooperation, expanding investment partnerships and facilitating the introduction of advanced technologies.

Ashgabat — A City of the Future

In conclusion, the 25th International Exhibition and Conference “White City Ashgabat 2026” is set to become a significant event on the international business calendar. The forum clearly demonstrates Turkmenistan’s consistent policy aimed at developing a modern architectural environment, promoting innovation and strengthening international cooperation.

Ashgabat, as a symbol of architectural excellence and dynamic development, continues to reinforce its status as a modern city of global standing — open to international partnership and the implementation of large-scale projects.

There is no doubt that the upcoming WCA 2026 will represent an important step in the continued development of Turkmenistan’s capital, contributing to the strengthening of international partnerships and opening new opportunities for the implementation of forward-looking projects that support the country’s sustainable socio-economic development and its growing international profile.
