On March 17, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, departed for a friendly visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

At the Ashgabat International Airport, the National Leader spoke with the heads of political parties and public organizations of Turkmenistan.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and China has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years.

The Hero-Arkadag emphasized global initiatives regarding security, civilization, development, and governance recently adopted at the session of the National People's Congress. In this regard, he noted that these proposals align in substance with Turkmenistan’s own initiatives, "Peace through Development" and "Dialogue is the Guarantee of Peace". Furthermore, it was highlighted that they correspond with Turkmenistan's efforts to revive the Great Silk Road and promote national cultural heritage worldwide.

This friendly visit by the National Leader of the Turkmen People will serve as another significant step in strengthening bilateral relations rooted deep in history and developing long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation.

A few hours later, the National Leader’s aircraft landed at Beijing Shoudu Capital International Airport, which was decorated with the national flags of both countries. At the airport, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty was warmly welcomed by official representatives of the PRC and Turkmenistan.
