Updated Catalog of Turkmenistan’s Leading Producers Showcases the Potential of the Private Sector

A large-scale exhibition of achievements by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), held in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, became clear evidence of the rapid growth of the country’s domestic business sector.

An updated catalog of private brands was presented at the exhibition venue. This unique publication, containing contact information, websites, and production profiles of the country’s leading entrepreneurs, has become a symbol of how various initiatives have transformed into a powerful and recognizable economic structure over an eighteen-year period.

The history of the Union began on March 17, 2008. It was then that the government adopted a package of strategic documents that laid the foundation for the development of a free market. The introduction of preferential lending for private enterprises, individual entrepreneurs, and daikhan farms opened the way for the implementation of large-scale projects in the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The subsequent adoption of the Law “On State Support for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses” made it possible to create a comprehensive growth infrastructure—from the State Commission for the Support of Entrepreneurship to a specialized business school.

Over the years, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has evolved from an association of like-minded individuals into a complex, multifunctional structure.

Today, the business community has its own periodical publication—the “Rysgal” newspaper—as well as its own bank and a political party representing the interests of producers at the legislative level.

The number of Union members exceeds 29,000, underscoring its social significance as one of the country’s largest employers, creating thousands of jobs for highly qualified specialists. A major event of 2025 was the opening of the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Government support and access to innovative technologies have enabled the private sector to take leading positions in the construction industry, the production of building materials, logistics, and the service sector.

Particular interest at the current exhibition was drawn to achievements in the processing industry and food production. Modern private enterprises in Turkmenistan are now equipped with high-performance machinery, allowing them not only to fully meet domestic market demand but also to actively enter export markets.

The catalog of brands presented at the exhibition demonstrates the technological advancement and competitiveness of Turkmen business. The growing number of private brands confirms that entrepreneurship has become one of the driving forces of the national economy, capable of rapidly adopting innovations and flexibly responding to global trends. The exhibition and the registry of producers presented there reflect a new reality in which Turkmen brands are becoming a mark of quality both within the country and beyond its borders.
