Strengthening ties with international financial institutions was one of the main topics on the agenda of meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the digital system. Deputy-prime, minister of foreign affairs R. Meredov presented a set of proposals to expand cooperation with the European bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD).

It was noted that since 1992, more than 80 projects have been implemented in Turkmenistan with the support of the EBRD, and the next stage of the partnership envisages further steps. In particular, proposals were made to prepare a final version of a new strategy for cooperation of Turkmenistan with this bank for 2026-2030, which will serve as the basis for attracting capital investment in the public and private sectors. Create a working committee, which will include financial and economic bloc of representatives of the country, to coordinate joint projects.

In addition, it was proposed to intensify cooperation with the European bank for reconstruction and development in the transport and logistics sector, in particular, in the implementation of projects for the construction of railways and highways and their reconstruction.

In accordance with the «Global Gateway» strategy, it has been noted that it would be advisable to hold negotiations with the European bank for reconstruction and development in the near future to attract foreign investment to our country.

To this end, it was proposed that in March-April of this year, with the participation of the heads of the MFA, the Central bank, the Ministry of finance and economy, and the Bank for foreign economic affairs, a work plan be prepared to expand interaction of Turkmenistan with the European bank for reconstruction and development.
