The VI Open mathematical Olympiad for University students (OMOUS-2026) has started at the International University for humanities and development (IUHD).
This year, the Olympiad brought together over 600 talented mathematics experts from our country and abroad. Turkmenistan is represented at the competition by more than 400 students from local universities. About 250 students from leading universities arrived in Ashgabat from Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, the UAE, Germany, Greece, Hungary, and the Netherlands.
The meeting of the participants in the Turkmen capital and the opening ceremony of the Olympiad at the university were organised in a deeply friendly and hospitable atmosphere. All necessary conditions have been created to hold the international event at a high organisational level.
The mathematical competition includes individual and team competitions. The individual classification involves dividing participants into categories A and B. Category A includes students majoring in «Mathematics» and «Computer science», while Category B includes students majoring in «Engineering», «Technology», «Economics», and «Management».
Regardless of their specialty, teams of students (4 people each) representing one or more universities participate in team competitions.
The competition jury consists of professors and teachers from universities in Turkmenistan and foreign countries participating in the Olympiad. The Olympiad is held in Turkmen and English.
In addition to intellectual competitions involving challenging mathematical problems, Olympiad participants will enjoy an engaging cultural and educational program. It includes excursions to historical monuments, museums and attractions, as well as visits to shopping and entertainment centres of the Turkmen capital and other activities.
The annual mathematical Olympiad held by the IUHD is popular among young people and serves as an effective platform for supporting young talent, motivating students to study the sciences, expanding and strengthening friendly relations, developing intercultural communication, sharing knowledge and experience, and building strong ties between members of the global academic community.
