On April 22, 2026, the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, in collaboration with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, organized an international scientific roundtable discussion in a hybrid format, where the representatives from the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov, the International Academy of horse breeding named after A. Annayev, and leading Romanian equine institutions and universities – such as the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, the "Ion Ionescu de la Brad" Iaşi University of Life Sciences, the Romanian State Stud Farms, and Zetea Veterinary Hospital participated. The event was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence and the motto of 2026: "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Heavenly Horses."
During the presentations, the participants emphasized the importance of developing national horse breeding, highlighted achievements in equestrian sports, and underlined the high level of Turkmen-Romanian cooperation, including in the fields of education and science.
The roundtable discussed issues related to horse breeding development, improving its economic efficiency and sustainable management, the achievements of the Galkynysh National Equestrian Group, current trends in veterinary medicine and animal breeding, and prospects for developing educational cooperation.
Participants were presented with thematic presentations and video materials. A thematic exhibition was also organized, reflecting the significant role of Turkmen horses in the life and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
At the conclusion of the event, its importance was emphasized as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations, expanding the exchange of experience, and developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
