The S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University will host the International Scientific Project Competition titled “The Role of Youth in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”, dedicated to World Environment Day and the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Students from higher educational institutions in Turkmenistan and abroad are invited to participate in the competition.
Designed to highlight the role and contributions of young scientists in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the competition will focus on six key areas: Zero Hunger; Clean Water and Sanitation; Affordable and Clean Energy; Climate Action; Life Below Water; Life on Land.
Participants are invited to submit scientific projects in one of these six areas. The competition will be held in two stages and will be conducted in Turkmen, English, and Russian.
For the first qualifying stage, authors or teams of up to two co-authors must submit their scientific projects to the Central Organizing Committee by May 10 via email at science.tm2024@gmail.com.
All submitted works will be reviewed and evaluated by a jury, and the best projects will be selected to advance to the second stage. The list of projects qualifying for the final round will be published on the university’s official website, tohu.edu.tm, on May 20.
The second main stage of the competition will take place from June 1 to June 5. During this phase, students will present their scientific projects online before the Central Organizing Committee.
Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria: relevance; innovation and scientific merit; logical structure and consistency; accuracy and clarity of presentation; feasibility and cost-effectiveness of implementation; quality of preparation and overall completeness.
The competition results will be determined based on the total scores awarded across all evaluation criteria. Winners will receive first-, second-, and third-degree diplomas, as well as prizes from the university.

The competition is aimed at identifying and supporting talented young people, promoting the exchange of advanced scientific experience among young researchers, and deepening students’ knowledge in the fields of food security, environmental protection, and the sustainable use of natural resources. It also seeks to foster environmental awareness among young people.
At the same time, the event is intended to draw the younger generation’s attention to pressing global challenges related to food security and ecology, while strengthening international scientific and educational cooperation and fostering friendly relations among university students from Turkmenistan and other countries.
