Among the theatrical premieres dedicated to the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, the Dovletmammet Azadi State Drama Theatre of Mary velayat presented a new production titled “At göçümi.” Inspired by the book “Atda wepa-da bar, sapa-da” by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, the play became a true gift for art lovers in the year held under the motto “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.”

The story transports the audience to a modern village centered around the home of the respected Badav Dade. A garden spreads around the house, blending so naturally into the rural landscape that local residents have long become accustomed to walking along its shady path. A young man in love also often takes this path, hoping to meet Badav Dade’s daughter.

According to the stage director Dovletmyrat Hudayberdiyev, the performance reflects the centuries-old wisdom and traditions of the Turkmen people. At first glance, it may seem like a simple story filled with gentle humor and amusing situations. However, upon deeper reflection, it becomes clear that nearly every line spoken by the characters carries an important message for contemplation.

A special place in the production is given to the image of the Akhal-Teke horse — the pride of Badav Dade’s household. The protagonist cares for the horse as if it were his own beloved child, and in the finale, the loyal steed brings its owner a well-deserved victory at the races. The roles on stage were performed by the theatre’s prominent actors, including K. Hanjaev, O. Mollaeva, H. Garyagdyyev, U. Myradova, G. Tokaeva, and others.

The touching and uplifting performance received an enthusiastic response from audiences during its premiere days. Impressed by what they saw, spectators returned to watch the production again, bringing along friends and family members. Due to its great success, the play is planned to be staged once more during the celebrations of Kurban Bayramy.
