The photo exhibition, dedicated to the Turkmen people’s history, culture and traditions opens in Saint Petersburg on May 22. The cultural event is organized by the Branch of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmens of the World for Saint Petersburg and North-West Russia with the support of the Saint Petersburg Committee on International Relations and Implementation of Migration Policy, Saint Petersburg House of Nationalities, the Historical park “Russia is My History” and the Vozrozhdenie Company.
The exposition is named after the book by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road”, the presentation of which will be held in the framework of the exposition opening ceremony.
The photo exposition “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road” continues a series of the international events aimed at the popularization of the unique historical and cultural heritage of the country, the ambitious achievements of the modern stage of development that allow accessing its peacefulness and integration potential, the Turkmen people’s contribution to the development of the world civilization.
The works of art photographers will tell about the world-known monuments of history and archeology, the architectural masterpieces of the Middle Ages located on the territory of our country, as well as the pearls of the Turkmen nature. White-marble Ashgabat will be represented in all its beauty. According to the organisers of the exhibition, one of the main and everlasting value of any nation is the carriers of its culture, who preserve the unique national traditions and customs in a state of nature and hand them over from generation to generation.
It is expected that the high-ranking officials of the Saint Petersburg Government, the heads of the national and cultural associations, workers of culture and arts, local citizens and mass media will attend the photo exposition opening ceremony and the presentation of the book by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road”.
A concert will be arranged upon completion of the solemn ceremony. The concert programme will include the songs and dances of the peoples of the countries, through the territory of which the Great Silk Road run.
