The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Federal Republic of Germany and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UN Tourism, B. Rejepov, is taking part in the 72nd Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, held from 12 to 14 May 2026 in St. Julian’s, Malta. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan. 

The conference, jointly organized by the UN Tourism Secretariat and the Government of Malta, brings together the member states of the Commission, as well as representatives of international organizations and specialized institutions.

Within the framework of the agenda, the participants of the session are discussing issues related to the global vision and regional approach in the field of tourism, the activities of UN Tourism, the implementation of the Programme of Work for Europe for 2025–2026, as well as cooperation with the Organization’s Affiliate Members. Particular attention is being paid to the preparations for the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism – 2027, the further development of international cooperation in the tourism sector, and the modern challenges currently facing the global tourism industry.

As an active member of the international community, Turkmenistan has established fruitful cooperation with the UN Tourism Secretariat aimed at developing the country’s tourism potential. Possessing unique natural attractions, a rich cultural and historical heritage, modern architecture, and innovative technologies, Turkmenistan continues to expand opportunities for the development of its national tourism industry and the strengthening of international partnership in the field of tourism.
