18 May 2026 the delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deryageldi Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, is participating in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum, organized by UN-Habitat in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his address, the head of the Turkmen delegation briefed the forum participants on Turkmenistan's advanced experience in modern urban planning, using the city of Arkadag as a model that successfully integrates the concepts of a "smart," "green," and safe city. It was emphasized that the project of the new administrative center, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is based on a detailed scientific analysis of ecological factors and is focused on creating a barrier-free environment, developing eco-friendly transport, and establishing a powerful medical cluster.
On the sidelines of the forum, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Deryageldi Orazov. During the meeting, the head of the Turkmen delegation conveyed warm greetings on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the warm greetings and asked D.Orazov to convey his greeting and warm wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The parties discussed the agenda of WUF13, as well as the construction progress of the mosque in the city of Fuzuli, which is being erected by the Turkmen side as a symbol of the unbreakable friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.
Participation in such a prestigious international forum clearly demonstrates neutral Turkmenistan's commitment to sustainable development goals and the expansion of multilateral environmental and innovative cooperation for global well-being.
