On May 21, 2026, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan A. Bayramov met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan, Eisuke Mori. During the meeting, both sides praised the relations between Turkmenistan and Japan and exchanged views on the development of political and interparliamentary cooperation. Speaker E. Mori praised the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitasrian spheres.

Particular emphasis was placed on the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in September 2022. The importance of the visits of the President of Turkmenistan to Japan in April and December 2025 was also emphasized, which served as a powerful impetus for the further development of cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also discussed specific areas for developing Turkmen-Japanese political and interparliamentary relations, including strengthening the activities of the Turkmen-Japanese Interparliamentary Friendship Group, holding the First Interparliamentary Forum of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" in Ashgabat, and creating exchange mechanisms between women parliamentarians from Turkmenistan and Japan in the areas of healthcare, education, charity, and culture.
