Educated Youth Are the Pillar of the Motherland

In the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, education workers of the Mary velayat are making a significant contribution to the implementation of large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the development of the country’s educational system.

Improving the level of knowledge and professional training of the younger generation—the future of the Motherland—is a top priority and the foundation of the country’s progress. Thanks to the tireless care of the head of state, new educational institutions are being built throughout the country and equipped with advanced technology, computers, and visual teaching aids, creating all the necessary conditions for the modern education and upbringing of young people.

There are currently 403 general secondary schools operating in the Mary velayat. Only a few days remain until the completion of the 2025–2026 academic year and the holding of the ceremonial “Last Bell” celebrations. In the current academic year, more than 25,000 young men and women will graduate from secondary schools in the Mary velayat and will make a worthy contribution to the continued prosperity of the state, which is confidently moving toward the glorious 35th anniversary of sacred independence. According to specialists from the Main Department of Education of the Mary velayat, the achievements of the region’s students and teachers during the 2025–2026 academic year deserve special attention.

This academic year, students from the velayat’s schools achieved major success in various subject Olympiads organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. At the national stage of the “Golden Talents of the Golden Age” subject Olympiad, held among students in grades 11–12, schoolchildren from the region won 104 prize places, enabling the Mary velayat to secure first place in the overall team standings. At the national stage of the scientific and creative competition in robotics and the exact and natural sciences, they won 4 prize places. In addition, at the national stage of the scientific and creative project competition, 18 students received prize-winning places, while 12 students were awarded Letters of Appreciation. Schoolchildren from the velayat also performed successfully at international subject Olympiads held in our country—in the city of Arkadag—and in the Russian Federation, France, and Kazakhstan, winning medals and diplomas.

On May 25, ceremonial “Last Bell” celebrations will be held in all general secondary schools of the country, including those in the Mary velayat. This is an unforgettable celebration for the happy young men and women graduating from school. The fact that the holiday, symbolizing the graduates’ farewell to school and the beginning of independent life, coincides with Ashgabat City Day gives it special solemnity and significance. The final school bell will ring for students, marking the end of the academic year, while graduates will receive congratulations and wishes for a bright future path in life. In recognition of the achievements attained by the velayat’s students and teachers during the 2025–2026 academic year, winners of velayat-level, national, and international competitions will be presented with Certificates of Honor and commemorative gifts.

On the occasion of the holiday, a flower-laying ceremony will take place at the square of the Main Flag of the velayat. Events featuring cultural figures, masters of the arts, and children’s creative ensembles, dedicated to the “Last Bell” celebration and Ashgabat City Day, will be organized in the square in front of the Mary Velayat Library, as well as at Specialized School No. 24 for Gifted Children in the city of Mary. On this day, celebrations honoring graduates will take place not only in all secondary schools, but also in children’s schools of arts and art schools throughout the region.
