The President of Turkmenistan met with the  Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus

On May 22, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the succesive meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, Alexander Turchin emphasized that the Republic of Belarus regards Turkmenistan as a reliable and strategic partner. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of President Alexander Lukashenko to the head of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen People.

Having returned greetings and best wishes to the President of the Republic of Belarus, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Alexander Turchin for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan. The head of state noted that the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus to the meeting confirms its commitment to further strengthening constructive multilateral cooperation within the CIS.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed strong confidence that the decisions to be adopted at the upcoming meeting will contribute to strengthening practical cooperation between the Commonwealth countries, and that the current visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus will give further impulse to the intensification of friendly ties between the two countries.

The head of state emphasized the growing partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus at various levels, including interaction within international organizations. In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the systematic work aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The development of trade and economic cooperation, including industrial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects, was highlighted.

The President noted that cultural and humanitarian cooperation holds a special place on the bilateral agenda. A large number of Turkmen citizens are studying at the universities of Belarus, and in this context, opportunities for expanding direct inter-university ties are being explored.

In the field of healthcare, special attention is paid to developing targeted contacts, sharing experience, and modern medical practices.

In turn, Alexander Turchin emphasized that Turkmenistan is a long-standing and reliable partner of the Republic of Belarus, and the two countries consistently support international initiatives on a reciprocal basis.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin confirmed their commitment to further strengthening interstate cooperation and exchanged best wishes for peace and prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan and Belarus.
