A number of sporting events are being organised in Turkmenistan to mark World bicycle day on the 3^rd of June.

As Deputy Prime Minister B. Mammedov reported at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on the 22^nd of May, a mass bike ride is planned to be held in the capital on the 3^rd of June. To mark the holiday, from the 30^th of May to 3^rd of June, cyclocross races, sports competitions, scientific and practical conferences, educational and other events are planned in the velayats and the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that World bicycle day is an international sporting event that promotes a healthy and happy life, and ordered the planned physical education and sports events to be held in an organised manner in our country.

As a reminder, World bicycle day was established at the initiative of Turkmenistan in April 2018 at the 72^nd session of the UN General Assembly. And in 2022, at the 76^th session of the United Nations General Assembly, at the proposal of our country, the Resolution «Integrating mass cycling into public transport systems to achieve sustainable development» was adopted by full consensus.

Cycling, an environmentally friendly sport, is gaining increasing popularity worldwide, especially in Turkmenistan, which is making a significant contribution to the development of a mass health movement.
