Today, on Ashgabat City Day, traditionally widely celebrated in our country, new social facilities were officially opened in the capital. The opening of modern residential buildings in the Berkararlyk and Bagtyyarlyk etraps of the city is further striking evidence of the successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s socially oriented state policy.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted in his congratulatory address to the people of the country on this significant occasion, in the era of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, the white-marble capital of the Fatherland is rapidly developing and transforming beyond recognition. “Significant investments are being made in Ashgabat, designed to transform it into one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In the white-marble capital, where advanced architectural practices and engineering solutions are combined with national architectural traditions, programs aimed at ensuring a happy future and improving people’s living conditions are being successfully implemented,” the head of state noted. In his address, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also emphasized that work to further develop and beautify Ashgabat – the heart of our sovereign Homeland – will continue.
The opening of multi-story and cottage residential buildings in the capital on the occasion of Ashgabat City Day is further evidence of the consistent implementation of the program for the comprehensive development of the country’s capital. Honorary elders and respected mothers, members of the Ashgabat City and Etrap People’s Councils, representatives of public organizations and the media, as well as the general public and students, took part in the celebrations, which took place in an atmosphere of universal inspiration.
The opening ceremony of a five-story 60-apartment dwelling-house and a five-story 80-apartment dwelling-house in the 8th micro district of the Berkararlyk etrap featured musical and song performances by artists and children’s art groups. The festivities were enhanced by the traditional folk customs and traditions inherent to Turkmen housewarmings. Children enthusiastically played traditional games. This was a clear demonstration of how the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people is carefully preserved and passed down from generation to generation. Children recited heartfelt poems celebrating the joyful modern era. Young athletes demonstrated their skills in demonstrations. Folk songs performed by dutar players, bagshi, and musicians also added to the festive atmosphere. To loud applause, clouds of colorful balloons soared into the sky.
Speeches by the participants in the celebration emphasized the profound symbolism of this year’s motto, which marks the 35th anniversary of the country’s sacred independence and the 145th anniversary of the city of Ashgabat: “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds”. These “heavenly” horses, rightfully recognized as the embodiment of beauty and swiftness, inspire the happy Turkmen people to new labor achievements, contributing to the progress of the Fatherland and enhancing its prestige. The commissioning of modern residential buildings in the capital is eloquent evidence that Turkmenistan is confidently moving forward, with the swift gait of a steed, along the path of large-scale transformations aimed at ensuring a prosperous and happy life for its people.
As emphasized, the long-term development of the country’s capital is one of the key areas of urban development policy, laid out by Hero-Arkadag and successfully implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the Revival of the new era of the powerful state. In a ceremonial setting, the keys were presented to the happy families who received apartments in the new residential buildings. Ceremony participants were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the apartments.

As speakers at the ceremony noted, the annual celebration of Ashgabat City Day on May 25 clearly demonstrates the scale of the fundamental transformations unfolding in the Fatherland during the Revavil of the new era of the powerful state, which are reflected in the appearance of our capital. Today, the traditions of this remarkable holiday, established at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, are honorably continued under the leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar. The comprehensive work being carried out in Ashgabat further enhances its status as the country’s political, socio-economic, scientific, educational, and cultural center.
In this new historical era, Ashgabat, thanks to the wisdom of Hero-Arkadag and the efforts of Arkadagly Hero Serdar, has become one of the world’s dynamically developing cities. In accordance with the master plan for the development and improvement of our white-marble capital, numerous magnificent buildings have been erected here in a short period of time, significantly expanding the city’s boundaries. These remarkable structures significantly enhance the beauty of Ashgabat. The Turkmen capital is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the city with the highest concentration of white-marble buildings. Furthermore, numerous buildings and unique sites in Ashgabat, constructed through a seamless blend of modern urban planning trends and traditional national architecture, are recognized as masterpieces of world architecture. All of this is a source of immense pride for our people.
It is worth noting that in the year of “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds”, the opening of various social facilities is planned in our pearly capital. The opening of a new phase of cottage-type residential buildings on Ashgabat City Day is clear evidence that the socially oriented state policy initiated by Hero-Arkadag is being successfully implemented in the modern era by Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
The new homes offer all the amenities for comfortable family living. Various trees and flowers planted around the cottages lend this corner of the city a special charm. The courtyards of the houses feature canopies and appropriate outbuildings. Two new Trade and Service Centers offer a wide range of everyday goods to the public.
