Events in honor of World Bicycle Day were held abroad

Mass cycling events dedicated to World Bicycle Day are being held by embassies, permanent missions to international organizations, and consulates of Turkmenistan abroad. This international date, established at the initiative of Turkmenistan by the UN General Assembly and adopted on April 12, 2018, is widely celebrated in Turkmenistan and other countries.

In honor of World Bicycle Day, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the French Republic in Paris organized a mass bike ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day. Participants in the sports-environmental event included Embassy staff and their families, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora in France, as well as Turkmen and French students from universities in Paris.

During the event, Ambassador of Turkmenistan M. Charyev noted that today's event united representatives of different nationalities around the values of sports, friendship, a healthy lifestyle, and respect for the environment.

Today, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia also held a bike ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day and the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence.

Representatives of the Georgian National Cycling Federation, Georgian athletes, and coaches participated in the ride. The route ran through the streets of Tbilisi and Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia.

Speaking to the participants, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia D. Seyitmammedov noted that World Bicycle Day, established by the UN at the initiative of Turkmenistan, promotes public interest in cycling, develops a culture of active recreation, and fosters respect for the environment.

Also today, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye held sporting events dedicated to World Bicycle Day and the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence.

The events were attended by diplomatic mission staff, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, Turkish media, Turkmen students, and cycling enthusiasts. The bike ride took place on a specially equipped bike path on the shore of Eymir Lake near Ankara.

On June 1, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia organized a mass bike ride in Riyadh to celebrate World Bicycle Day. The event was attended by Turkmen citizens living in Saudi Arabia, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, and residents of Riyadh.

During the event, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia M. Ayazov noted the importance of Turkmenistan's international initiatives aimed at developing sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle, protecting the environment, and emphasizing the country's neutrality policy.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan held a mass bike ride. This sporting event was attended by employees of the country's diplomatic mission and their families, as well as Turkmen students and athletes.

The traditional mass bike ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day took place in the Russian capital. Organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, the event brought together students from Moscow universities, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moscow.

During the bike ride, participants introduced Muscovites and visitors to Turkmenistan's achievements in physical education and sports, as well as state policies aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Cycling is gaining increasing popularity worldwide. And the bicycle festival unites all countries and peoples. This is another contribution of our country to global development, the health movement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
