Young French couturier and founder of the «L'Engrenage» brand, Romuald Bertrand, visited Ashgabat for the first time to present a ten-look collection on the fashion catwalk at «Türkmentextile Expo – 2026».

Especially for this event, the designer creatively transformed his designs so that they harmoniously corresponded to local cultural traditions and national codes. French silhouettes have become more restrained, but still remain elegant.
According to the couturier himself, adapting the outfits for the show in Ashgabat allowed him to take a fresh look at his own work. Some updated versions of dresses have been transformed so much that they will now forever remain in this form in the main portfolio of the brand.

The show consisted of two conceptual parts. The first half was made up of the «Black rose» collection, built on a sophisticated contrast of deep black and noble beige shades. The second part presented the «Constellation» collection, inspired by the mysteries of the universe, stars, and the bright side of the night sky. The haute couture looks were complemented by original headdresses and creative hats created by the designer specifically for this fashion show.
The acquaintance of the master with the local culture left a deep impression. The guest highly appreciated the subtlety, complexity and colossal work hidden behind traditional Turkmen costumes.

Moreover, the French designer emphasised that behind the outward simplicity and restraint of the national costume lies incredible elegance and the highest level of applied craftsmanship. Summing up the visit, the couturier noted the importance of such cultural exchange and expressed confidence that upon his return to France, he will certainly integrate elements of the unique Turkmen aesthetic into his future collections.
Romuald Bertrand created the «L'Engrenage» brand in 2021, opening his fashion house in Besançon, a city renowned for its precision craftsmanship and rich heritage in the luxury industry. «L'Engrenage» is distinguished by its unique style and commitment to making high fashion accessible to a wide audience through a variety of public and private events.
