On the 4th of June, as part of the International exhibition and fair «Turkmentextile Expo – 2026», a large fashion show was held, bringing together designers from France, Morocco, Oman, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.

The high status of the event was enhanced by the presence of distinguished guests Carlo D'Amario, general director of the British fashion house Vivienne Westwood, and Marzio Nocera, founder of the influential Italian fashion resource Fashion Channel Italy. In his welcoming remarks, Marzio Nocera sincerely thanked the organisers for the invitation and shared how his international platform helps open up new fashion horizons to the world.

The show opened with a colourful collection from the Ashgabat fashion house «Miras» under the Ministry of textile industry of Turkmenistan. Designers have once again proven that national cultural heritage is capable of flexibly adapting to modern times, acquiring new, relevant forms.

Each appearance of the models was perceived as the appearance of a living work of art. The rich heritage of the Turkmen people was evident in the smallest details – from luxurious, noble fabrics to exquisitely crafted ornaments. The collection was designed in deep burgundy and soft sand tones, with golden threads artfully enriching the contours of the patterns.

The traditional accessories of Turkmen beauties, without which a complete look is simply unthinkable, caused true delight - chest decorations «gulyaka», elegant brooches «tumar» and amulets «alaja» woven into braids of the girls.

The performance of the young performer Dovran Shammyyev was a harmonious addition to the fashion show. Musical breaks gave guests the opportunity to discuss their favourite looks and prepare for a new dose of beauty and grace from the international participants of the evening.

At the end of the show, Carlo D'Amario shared his thoughts on contemporary fashion. Head of the Vivienne Westwood discussed global transformation of the industry, which is currently shifting from elitist, inaccessible couture to a comprehensive lifestyle concept. According to D'Amario, the modern success of brands depends on focusing on a new generation and affordable luxury, where high quality is combined with a fair price, contrasting this with outdated models of ultra-expensive consumption.

It is noteworthy that Carlo D'Amario's idea resonated perfectly with what the fashion house «Miras» had recently demonstrated on the catwalk. A foreign expert noted that at the centre of a dynamic future lies the idea of a connection between times, where a rich historical heritage serves as a solid foundation for innovation. The true value of things today is measured not by the price tag, but by the time spent on their creation and the spiritual meaning invested in them.
