Sarah B. Rogers, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, summarized the results of her visit to Turkmenistan. During an online briefing with media representatives, the senior diplomat discussed the key areas of bilateral cooperation, placing particular emphasis on advanced technologies, education, and cultural exchange.
One of the main topics of discussion during Sarah Rogers’ tour of Central Asia was cutting-edge technology. According to the Under Secretary, American technology companies and major investors have shown strong interest in partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
“The topic of AI and data centers came up in nearly every conversation, including meetings with ministry leaders. I am encouraged—and not at all surprised—by Turkmenistan’s interest in this field. The country’s government is striving for technological progress and prosperity, and American companies are always ready to provide the technologies needed for AI development,” said the U.S. official.
Sarah B. Rogers added that AI is a transformative force capable of streamlining business operations and significantly improving the field of education.
Special attention was also given to educational projects during the visit. In particular, Sarah B. Rogers announced ongoing work on a joint Master of Business Administration (MBA) program between Kent State University in the United States and Turkmen partners. This initiative is one of dozens of promising areas of cooperation in higher education.
The Under Secretary also highlighted her meeting with Turkmen journalists and digital content creators. Sarah B. Rogers praised the high level of creativity demonstrated by young professionals, their eagerness to master new media tools, and expressed admiration for the confidence and conviction with which Turkmenistan’s youth discuss their ideas.
The diplomat’s visit also included a cultural program reflecting respect for Turkmenistan’s historical heritage. Sarah B. Rogers visited the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, where she learned about the restoration of a unique 5th-century Buddha head. The project is being carried out within the framework of an international partnership with the J. Paul Getty Museum of California.
During her visit, Sarah Rogers also toured an equestrian sports complex to see the world-famous Akhal-Teke horses, whose breeding and preservation traditions have been recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage. The diplomat was also given the opportunity to go horseback riding.
Following her meeting with journalists, Sarah B. Rogers expressed confidence in the continued development of U.S.–Turkmen relations. The U.S. Under Secretary of State noted that the foundation for multifaceted dialogue remains strong and promising.
