Negotiations were held in the Turkmen capital between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Malaysian Prime-minister Anwar Ibrahim. During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation and interaction in the international arena.
The head of Turkmenistan named partnership with Malaysia, one of the founding states and authoritative members of ASEAN, as one of the important foreign policy objectives of the country. As noted, Turkmenistan highly values the results of Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.
One of the central vectors of joint work at the negotiations was identified as protecting the interests of developing countries and ensuring their rights in global decision-making. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed his support for the initiatives Malaysia to strengthen the position of the Global South and promote a culture of dialogue. The head of state emphasised that these proposals are fully consistent with foreign policy philosophy of Turkmenistan, based on the principles of «Dialogue - a guarantee of peace» and «Peace through development».
«We are ready to closely cooperate with Malaysia in promoting initiatives to strengthen international security and jointly support programs to achieve the United Nations Sustainable development goals», – the President of Turkmenistan noted.
