Farmers in Takhtabazar etrap have reported on the fulfillment of their contractual obligations, having produced and delivered more than 19, 800 tons of wheat of 2018 crop to the designated centers. More than 154, 000 tons of wheat have already been harvested in the region with 22,500-plus tons gathered daily.

Grain harvesting operations are progressing smoothly and rapidly in Sakarchaga etrap, one of the country’s leading agricultural producers. Among those also setting the pace for the wheat harvest are daikhan associations in Oguzkhan and Iolotan etraps.

Winter wheat areas in Mary velayat cover 157, 000 hectares. Several varieties of wheat (namely “Iolotan-1”, “Iolotan-3”, etc.), producing high yields and well adapted to the local soil and climatic conditions, are grown in the region. The region’s production targets, set by the government this year are 300, 000 tons of wheat, which now stand at more than 40 percent complete.

Noteworthily, in terms of agricultural machinery, local wheat growers are particularly well supplied for this year’s harvesting operations. Of the 467combine harvesters, working out in the fields in the region, 87 John Deere combines (USA) and CLASS combines (Germany), are new and were delivered prior to the harvest campaign. The farmers are deeply grateful to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his care and attention to the provision of the domestic agricultural sector with state-of-the-art farm machinery. State support for the sector ensures everything necessary to increase yields of crops and achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency of farming.

A fixed and accurate harvesting schedule has been arranged in the velayat like in other regions. Special efforts are now being made to carry out routine maintenance of combine harvesters and supply fuel and lubricants. Mobile maintenance crews, consisting of experienced technicians, have all necessary equipment and tools.

One of the essential aspects is to ensure loss-free deliveries of harvested wheat to 48 specially designated centers and then to grain elevators. The facilities are well equipped with digital grain scales, driers and cleaners. Marygallaonumleri Production Association (the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management) directly manages 4 bakeries that have facilities specially designed for long storage of grain.

Roads and access roads to threshing floors and fields were properly repaired ahead of the harvest campaign. 2, 350 trucks are currently transporting harvested wheat under the agreements concluded with state and private enterprises.

Concurrently with the grain harvesting, fields left after harvest are being prepared for the next planting season with 280 high-power tractors used for ploughing.
