In Turkmenistan, an informatics textbook for children with visual impairments has been published for the first time

The Turkmen state publishing service has published for the first time a textbook, «Fundamentals of informatics», intended for first-grade students in departments for blind and visually impaired school-age children at rehabilitation and educational complexes in Turkmenistan.

A group of authors, domestic specialised specialists and teachers, worked on the preparation of the textbook, which included L.Ruliyeva, J.Annamyradova, O.Mammetgulyyeva, H.Bayramova, V.Chernikova and S.Volkova. Experienced teachers from the departments for blind and visually impaired children at the Ashgabat rehabilitation and educational complex also actively participated in this important and responsible work.

In addition, development of the textbook involved close collaboration with specialists in adaptive pedagogy, designers, and accessibility experts.

The textbook was compiled taking into account the peculiarities of visual perception of the children. It uses large print, high-contrast design, special tactile elements and adapted illustrations, which creates ample opportunities for students to effectively master reading, writing and arithmetic skills.

A new textbook for first-graders with visual impairments was prepared in accordance with state policy priorities to ensure modern education for the younger generation, create conditions for the comprehensive development and dignity of every child, and provide equal rights and opportunities for all children.
