From 22 June to 4 July, students from the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University are completing an educational and industrial internship at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The primary objective of the internship is to reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical training, enhance professional skills, facilitate the exchange of experience, and further strengthen scientific and educational ties between the partner universities.

As part of the two-week internship, the students are participating in a comprehensive program of academic and practical activities designed to deepen their knowledge and expand their expertise in innovative agricultural and water management technologies, as well as in the priority areas of modern agricultural science.

Leading professors and lecturers from the Uzbek university are delivering specialized lectures for the Turkmen students. Particular attention is being given to such topical issues as the impact of global climate change on the reclamation status of agricultural land, the calculation of crop irrigation schedules using FAO methodologies, water-saving technologies, geographic information systems (GIS), and innovative remote sensing techniques.

The students are also taking part in applied scientific research conducted in the institute’s modern laboratories. They independently carry out laboratory work to evaluate the efficiency of contemporary GPS systems installed on agricultural machinery, measure the thermal conductivity of protective materials, and determine the physical and mechanical properties of various soil types.

To integrate theoretical knowledge with practical training, the internship program includes educational visits to leading enterprises in Uzbekistan’s agricultural and water management sectors. During these visits, the students gain first-hand experience with the operations of the “UzGIP” Design Institute, “AGROMAX TEXNIC,” the “Water Specialists Training School,” and the Republican Center for Testing and Certification of Agricultural Machinery and Technologies.

In addition to academic and practical activities, the program includes cultural events, including visits to Tashkent’s landmarks, cultural centers, and museums.

It is worth recalling that from 16 May to 1 June, students from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers completed a similar internship at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.

The Uzbek delegation received a warm welcome at a high level and participated in an extensive program of cultural and educational activities.

These reciprocal student internships are held annually under the Cooperation Agreement between the two universities of the friendly countries, signed in April 2018.

The academic exchange program makes a significant contribution to the successful development of Turkmen-Uzbek humanitarian and friendly relations, promotes the productive exchange of valuable experience in agriculture and agricultural education, and enhances the quality of training for future specialists in the agro-industrial sector.
