Effective use of the geographical location of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan opens up broad prospects for diversifying partnerships in strategically important sectors. This was announced during a meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.

As the head of state noted, the recent state visit to Azerbaijan gave a powerful impetus to bilateral relations. The high-level talks laid the foundation for strengthening cooperation in key areas.

In this regard, having outlined the importance of effectively utilising the advantageous geographical position of the two countries, the parties paid particular attention to a number of areas. These include diversifying cooperation and implementing joint projects in the energy sector, developing transport and transit corridors, improving logistics routes, and implementing joint projects of international significance.

The interlocutors emphasised the key role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation in realising the potential of the two countries. The Commission serves as the main coordinating instrument for facilitating the expansion and diversification of ties in trade, logistics, science, technology, and other priority areas, it was noted during the meeting.
