President of Turkmenistan received a US Senate representative

On July 9, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Steve Daines, a member of the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and Senator from the state of Montana, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to the American delegation, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from American President Donald Trump to the head of state.

Welcoming the guest, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed reciprocal best wishes to the US President. Wishing Senator Steve Daines a successful visit to Turkmenistan, the head of state expressed confidence that this visit would provide momentum for the further development of friendly Turkmen-American relations.

The bilateral cooperation, which is multi-vector in nature, includes political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Touching upon the topic of political and diplomatic cooperation, the head of state noted that an active political dialogue has been maintained between the two countries in recent years.

A vivid example of this is the working visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Washington, made in November last year to participate in the "Central Asia + USA" Summit. During the visit, a productive exchange of views on the current state and further development of Turkmen-American relations took place in a conversation with US President Donald Trump.

The great importance of the visit made in February this year by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, to the US state of Florida in strengthening bilateral cooperation was also emphasized. Such a high-level dialogue serves as an important political foundation for the progressive development of constructive interstate partnership.

The dynamic nature of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries was also noted. Regularly held meetings facilitate the exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda.

The trade and economic sphere is one of the promising areas of bilateral relations. In this field, a positive experience of long-term partnership with American companies has been accumulated.

In this context, the significant contribution of the Turkmenistan–US Business Council to the coordination of economic relations was highlighted.

During the meeting, the head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness for cooperation with the US in such key areas as the fuel and energy complex, transport, financial and banking sectors, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Touching upon the energy sector, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the attention and support provided by the US for the implementation of the promising transnational Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. Speaking on this, the head of state expressed confidence that this project would contribute to economic development and the strengthening of cooperation in the region.

Cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture is also an important component of Turkmen-American relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, reaffirming Turkmenistan's readiness for the further development of long-term multi-vector cooperation with the US, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished Senator Steve Daines great success in his work, and the people of the United States of America peace and prosperity.
