President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via the digital system. During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the country's priority positions for the upcoming 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
One of the key areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations remains the field of international law. Turkmenistan consistently puts forward global initiatives concerning international law and its significance, one of which is the proposal to proclaim 2028 as the Year of International Law. This initiative underscores the importance of the UN Charter and the international legal norms governing relations between states.
As part of the preparations for the Year of International Law, Turkmenistan will propose, at the upcoming session of the General Assembly, to host an International Forum dedicated to the interrelationship between international law, disarmament, neutrality, preventive diplomacy, and sustainable development.
