Representatives of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation (STD RF) are on a creative visit to Ashgabat, organised as part of the Program for supporting Russian theatres abroad. An intensive creative workshop dedicated to the legacy of the Russian classic has unfolded on the stage of the State Russian drama theatre named after A.S. Pushkin. The focus of Russian and Turkmen artists is on sketch productions based on the famous cycle «Little tragedies», which includes the plays «The Stone guest», «The Miserly knight», and «Mozart and Salieri».
Work on the sketch for the play «Mozart and Salieri» is being supervised by Moscow director Grigoriy Artamonov. According to him, the laboratory format required maximum concentration and quick decision-making from the entire team. Only five days were allocated for the entire rehearsal process, the first of which was spent on getting acquainted with and preparing the material.
«I would like to note the incredible involvement of the actors of the Ashgabat theatre named after Pushkin. By the evening of the second day, we had already fully formed the concept. The artists were willing to work late into the night, constantly offering interesting solutions and coming up with new moves. We managed to collect the material in literally three days», – the director shared.
G. Artamonov also emphasised the high professionalism and comprehensive training of the Ashgabat theatre troupe. In addition to their acting talent, rehearsals revealed their vocal abilities and outstanding hard work. Musical numbers and solo compositions will become an important part not only of the new sketch, but also of other works created within the laboratory.
Along with the productive work on stage, the guests from Russia also had the opportunity to appreciate traditional Turkmen hospitality. Despite the busy rehearsal schedule, Russian performers received the most vivid impressions from the cultural program. The director praised the responsiveness of local residents, architecture of Ashgabat, and the rich Turkmen culture and cuisine, expressing his hope to return again to spend more time exploring sights and natural beauty of Turkmenistan.
