In the year being held under the motto “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” the country’s textile industry is undergoing active modernization thanks to large-scale support from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. One of the examples of this progress is the recent commissioning of a workshop for processing camel wool and goat down at the Bayramaly Textile Complex, where the production of high-quality yarn has already begun.
The main feature of this workshop is that it uses exclusively locally sourced raw materials purchased from state and private livestock farms. To produce high-quality wool yarn, which is in great demand in foreign markets, the facility has been equipped with advanced machinery from the People’s Republic of China, as well as equipment supplied by the Italian company “Cormatex S.r.L.”
The workshop, designed to produce 130 tons of wool yarn annually, operates in three shifts. The main objective of this production facility is to use modern technological equipment to bring the centuries-old traditions of processing natural raw materials to an industrial level.
The new division of the Bayramaly Textile Complex consists of three departments: spinning, fibre dyeing, and laboratory departments. The technological process is carried out in several stages. Both incoming raw materials and finished products undergo mandatory quality checks in the laboratory.
The yarn, dyed in various colours and distinguished by its lightness and heat-retaining properties, is mainly intended for the production of special-purpose fabrics. It should also be noted that the workshop has established a process for recycling production waste. In the future, it is planned to use recycled wool to produce items such as blankets, pillows, and belts.
The wool yarn produced by the new division of the complex has expanded the range of products manufactured by the country’s textile industry and opened promising export opportunities for the entire sector.
