Bilateral talks were held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar.

During the meeting, Hero-Arkadag emphasised the fraternal nature of relations between the two peoples and noted that the Turkmen-Afghan border is a border of friendship. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty stated that Turkmenistan, relying on its neutral status, consistently advocates for regional peace, and confirmed the readiness of the country to further develop cooperation with Afghanistan for the well-being of both peoples.

 Particular attention was paid to the implementation of large-scale energy projects. As noted, the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and its key section Serhetabat – Herat, called «Arkadagyň ak ýoly», has become a symbol of good neighbourliness and has entered the history of relations between the two countries.
