The Turkmen state publishing service has released a new textbook, «Choral studies» («Hory öwreniş»), intended for specialised music schools in the country.

The publication was prepared by the author B. Berdiyev. The main goal of this manual is to provide students with a systematic understanding of choral art, its origins and historical development, the types and composition of choirs, performance techniques, ensemble and vocal-choral features, and to introduce them to basic professional terminology.

The publication also examines issues of analysing choral works and methods of working with choral groups. Particular attention is paid to the practical aspects of choral activities: working with a choir of children, organisational issues of activities of the director, professional training, conducting vocal exercises and the repertoire of choral groups of specialised music schools.

This new manual will serve as a useful educational resource for students and teachers of specialised music schools, as well as for all readers interested in the history and development of choral art.
