On August 14, a ceremonial event was held in the capital of Turkmenistan to mark the 79th anniversary of the independence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the 150th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Pakistani state, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. As part of the celebration, a thematic exhibition was organized highlighting the life and state activities of the Pakistani leader.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari addressed those present with welcoming remarks. The head of the diplomatic mission expressed sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for their invaluable contribution to the strengthening and consistent development of bilateral ties.
“The interstate dialogue between Pakistan and Turkmenistan is based on the principles of mutual respect, common civilizational values, and a shared commitment to ensuring peace, regional stability and energy security,” emphasized the Ambassador.
The head of the diplomatic mission particularly noted that Islamabad highly values Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality, its consistent efforts to promote peaceful dialogue, and expressed gratitude for constructive cooperation on international platforms.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov delivered a response address, conveying, on behalf of the country’s top leadership, the warmest congratulations to the Pakistani people and emphasizing the particular symbolism of combining the Independence Day celebration with the 150th anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The head of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy agency recalled the roots of Turkmen-Pakistani friendship and the spiritual affinity between the two peoples. R. Meredov also noted the historical fact that Pakistan co-sponsored the historic resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in December 1995.
“Today, bilateral partnership demonstrates sustainable dynamics in the political, trade-economic, energy, transport, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Regular, trusting dialogue at the highest state level remains the main driving force behind the implementation of large-scale long-term projects,” concluded R. Meredov.
