On 20 August 2026, a round table was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic dedicated to the significance of the upcoming regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the United Nations General Assembly resolution “Year of International Law, 2028”, adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan. During the event, it was noted that the upcoming regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, scheduled to take place on 23 September 2026, is an important socio-political event. It was emphasized that the meeting will provide an opportunity to review the results of the work carried out and achievements attained, as well as to identify priority areas for the country’s further socio-economic development.

Particular attention during the round table was paid to the international significance of the United Nations General Assembly resolution “Year of International Law, 2028”, adopted on 24 July 2026 at the initiative of Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that this initiative is aimed at further strengthening the role of international law, enhancing respect for the principles and norms of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as promoting international peace and security and the development of constructive multilateral cooperation.

In conclusion, it was noted that the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty and the further implementation of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives will contribute to the successful fulfilment of the objectives set and to further strengthening the authority of Turkmenistan on the international arena as a state consistently pursuing a peaceful foreign policy based on its status of permanent neutrality.
