Preparations for the new 2026–2027 academic year are actively underway in the Mary velayat. This year, more than 27,000 children will enter the first grade of secondary schools across the region. In keeping with an established tradition, first-graders who are entering school for the first time will receive laptops on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
In our country, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, great attention is being paid to raising a highly educated younger generation equipped with knowledge at the global level. The future of the Motherland depends precisely on today’s young people, their knowledge, and professional skills. Education workers in the Mary velayat are making their contribution to the implementation of large-scale reforms. In the current academic year, the region’s teaching workforce will be joined by more than 1,000 young specialists. The annual August conferences play an important role in improving teachers’ qualifications and introducing modern teaching methods.
In the cities and etraps of the Mary velayat, August conferences for education workers were held in an active format ahead of the new academic year. The event, organized by the Mary Velayat Department of Education at Secondary School No. 36 in Mary, brought together heads of educational institutions, experienced teachers, representatives of public organizations, as well as winners of national and international competitions.
During the conference, participants discussed the achievements of the past academic year, the results of the work carried out, and the tasks for the new 2026–2027 school year. Specific measures were also outlined to improve the quality of school and preschool education, enhance the educational and teaching process, and raise the professional qualifications of teachers. Participants visited a large-scale exhibition of scientific and technical creative projects and new teaching aids incorporating innovative technologies, prepared by teachers and students of secondary schools across the velayat as part of the implementation of educational reforms.
The regular provision of educational institutions with textbooks and teaching materials demonstrates the state’s unwavering attention to the younger generation. It should be noted that, starting from this academic year, new reforms will be introduced in the Vekilbazar, Garagum, Yolotan and Tagtabazar etraps of the region. According to specialists from the Mary Velayat Department of Education, 19 preparatory groups for children entering the first grade are planned to be opened at 12 schools. This will help improve children’s readiness for formal schooling. To ensure the effective implementation of these reforms, training sessions were held at Kindergarten No. 47 in the city of Mary, attended by school principals and future teachers of the preparatory groups.
As part of preparations for the new academic year, particular attention is being paid to organizing celebrations for Knowledge Day and Student Youth at a high level.
