On the 1st September, Turkmenistan launched the annual month-long campaign «Roadsafety – peace of mind». This large-scale campaign is aimed at reducing accidents, improving driving standards, and strengthening the discipline of all road users.
Throughout the month, information and awareness-raising events are held at enterprises and educational institutions at all levels. Children and students are reminded of basic rules of conduct on the street, including the rules for crossing the road safely.
During these days, bicycle patrols are on duty, and police inspectors are especially vigilant in enforcing speed limits and traffic rules near schools, kindergartens, and other educational institutions.
The systematic development of infrastructure contributes to the improvement of the situation on the roadway. In the white-marble capital, underground and overground pedestrian crossings have been modernised, and the use of modern road markings helps drivers and pedestrians better navigate traffic.
In addition, modern road signs and LED traffic lights with countdown displays have been installed in all cities of the country. This helps road users concentrate better and make timely decisions.
Maintaining order on the roads is not only the task of law enforcement agencies, but also the shared responsibility of every citizen. Strict adherence to traffic rules by drivers, attentiveness by pedestrians, and mutual respect can save lives.
