The State russian drama theatre named after A.S. Pushkin has staged the play «Hear Me», based on the play by young playwright Margarita Kazakova. Through the story of the main character, Ayperi, the author raises such important themes as the struggle of young people for their rights within the family and the conflict between two generations.
According to established tradition, a girl who has reached a certain age is usually given in marriage. Starting a family, becoming a good wife and mother is a wonderful destiny, and many girls dream of such happiness. But if girls like Ayperi have talent and a dream to continue their studies, then they have absolutely no desire to tie the knot, even with a very worthy man chosen by their uncle.
The play reminds the audience that the youth of today are the descendants of those who did not flinch during the tragic Ashgabat earthquake, but courageously cleared the rubble and rebuilt one of the most beautiful cities in the world on this site. Today, the divine music of Nury Halmammedov resounds in the capital, the memory of the glorious ancestors of the Turkmen people is captured in the bronze sculptures of Saragt Babayev, and each March is filled with the poetry of Gurbannazar Ezizov. «We are the independent youth of independent Turkmenistan», – Ayperi says proudly. – We are the future of the country, its support».
The girl desperately fights for her choice. To the arguments of her uncle that she might stumble and make mistakes, Ayperi declares: «I can. But they will be my mistakes».
Seeing the steadfastness and strength of spirit of the girl, her mother and grandmother gradually come over to her side. In the end, Uncle Begli also gives in to his niece.
The strong-willed Ayperi succeeded: she became a famous fashion designer, and her fashion collections won prizes at international shows. The main credo of her work became the harmonious combination of the traditional costume of Turkmen women with modern elements.
We are for the preservation of national traditions, no matter how they manifest themselves, but supplementing them with the trends of today - this is the profound message that sounds from the stage.
Interesting fact: Margarita Kazakova has never been to Ashgabat. She wrote her play, «Hear Me», based on materials from various sources, the main one being book of the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, «Youth – the support of the Motherland». In his work, the head of state details the key role of youth in the development of the country and supports the aspirations of young men and women for knowledge and professional development.
The director of the play, Bayram Garajayev, like Margarita Kazakova, graduated from the St. Petersburg state institute of culture. Their shared creative background largely predetermined the success of their collaboration in creating the play.
The production features leading actors from the State russian drama theatre named after A.S. Pushkin. The leading role of the strong-willed heroine was played by the young actress Mariya Durdyyeva. Her uncle, whose actions provoked the conflict in the family, was played by Kerim Atayev. Honoured artist of Turkmenistan Svetlana Troitskaya and Alina Andronova performed the roles of Turkmen women inimitably.
The play «Hear Me» is a gift from creative team of the theatre for the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan independence of Turkmenistan. At the same time, he is taking part in a theatre forum, which takes place at all theatre venues across the country in early September.
