Turkmenistan recognizes its great responsibility as the homeland of the Akhal-Teke horse, from where its fame has spread throughout the world. This was stated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during his speech at the World Championship of Equestrian Sports and Beauty Contest among Akhal-Teke Horses in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In his address, Hero-Arkadag, the Chairman, placed particular emphasis on the fact that the Akhal-Teke horse is “the soul of the Turkmen” and a key element of the nation's worldview and history. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that, since gaining independence, the country has been carrying out efforts to restore and develop the purebred lineage, drawing upon the centuries-old experience and traditions of its ancestors.

Hero-Arkadag also recalled the high state status accorded to these legendary horses, noting that the image of the Akhal-Teke horse occupies a central place on the State Emblem of Turkmenistan.
