The Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan hosted the final round and award ceremony for the Biology Olympiad, held among senior students of secondary schools across the country in honor of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

Following the results of the intellectual competition, first place was won by Sakhetmyrat Garaev, an 11th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 19 in the Babadaykhan etrap, the Ahal velayat.

Second place was shared by Guljemal Maksadova, a 12th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 18 in the Babadaykhan etrap, the Ahal velayat, and Aynur Annamammedova, a 12th-grade student of Secondary School No. 20 in the Turkmengala etrap, the Mary velayat.

Third places were awarded to Shanazar Ashyrov, a 12th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 37 in the Kerki etrap, the Lebap velayat; Aylar Esenova, a 12th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 20 in Balkanabat, the Balkan velayat; and Myakhri Atajanova, a 12th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 10 in Dashoguz, the Dashoguz velayat.

During the awards ceremony, the winners were presented with diplomas corresponding to their respective places and commemorative gifts. Participants who distinguished themselves in the Olympiad were also awarded certificates of merit and prizes.

The final round, held at the capital’s university, brought together talented schoolchildren from different parts of the country. Exciting and educational excursions to the sights of Ashgabat were organized for them.

The finalists, who have a particular interest in biology and medicine, were given an excellent opportunity to become thoroughly acquainted with the capital’s medical university — the country’s leading institution for training highly qualified medical professionals. The schoolchildren visited modern classrooms, research laboratories, and university departments, where all the necessary conditions have been created for obtaining a quality education, achieving excellent academic results, and successfully mastering their future profession.

The Biology Olympiad for senior school students is an annual event organized by the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University and dedicated to the Independence Day of Turkmenistan. Among the main objectives of the competition, the organizers highlight identifying, supporting, and attracting the most talented schoolchildren; improving the quality of students’ training in the natural sciences; stimulating young people’s interest in studying these disciplines; and developing close cooperation between the university and secondary schools across the country in this area.
