In the system of modern international relations, the role of the People's Republic of China as a platform where multilateral development models, rapid urbanisation, and the digital economy intertwine is steadily growing. The international media tour «New epoch - studying China» (2026), which took place in Chongqing and also included representatives from Turkmenistan, provided foreign journalists, political scientists, and members of the public with a broad opportunity to assess firsthand sustainable development strategy of China, its approaches to urban development, and its experience of international cooperation. The trip took place from the 18th to 21st of September.
The first stop was Liangjiang new area. The Green Heart and Ziweilu Commercial Street located here clearly demonstrate how modern urban concept of China harmoniously combines ecology and economic innovation.
On the 19th of September, the media tour program continued at the historical, cultural and commercial complexes of the Nan'an and Shapingba districts. The «Kaibu Yizhi Gongyuan» Park, Xiahaoli district, and «Changjiahui» shopping park demonstrate respect of China for its historical heritage and its mastery of transforming it into a modern shopping and tourism attraction. The «Florentine village» and the «Rongchuan» cultural and tourism complex in Shapingba district have become a practical platform for exploring the mutually beneficial integration of international brands and local consumers.
On the 20th of September, the official opening ceremony of the global media communication event «New epoch - studying China: international consumption and the new Chongqing» was held at the «Guotai Youhuo City Plaza». The event was a result of strategic steps of China to open its domestic market to the world, strengthen international trade cooperation, and promote its openness policy through media resources.
