Turkmenistan is in the fourth stage of developing the «Galkynyş» gas field, which includes the construction of infrastructure to process an additional 10 billion cubic metres of commercial gas per year. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, announced this at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty on the 23rd of September.
The Chairman of the highest representative body emphasised that the implementation of this new phase will increase natural gas production, expand export potential of the country, create new jobs, and strengthen position of Turkmenistan in the global energy market.
Hero-Arkadag noted that the phased development of the «Galkynyş» field is a key element of oil and gas industry development program of the country for the period up to 2030. The strategy aims to modernise the fuel and energy complex, increase production volumes, and diversify export routes.
The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is designed to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the entire region, was also identified as one of the most important transnational projects in the energy sector.
