The Turkmenistan Investment Forum TIF 2026 has opened in the capital of Turkmenistan. This is one of the key business events on an international and regional scale. The event has become a prestigious platform, bringing together international investors, experts from global financial institutions, representatives of the innovation sector, and leaders from leading economic sectors.

During the forum, the Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Luc Devigne, delivered a report. In his speech, he praised the current state of cooperation and outlined strategic directions for further partnership.

«Despite the fact that significant results have already been achieved between Turkmenistan and the European Union, we need to look to the future and seek ways to expand cooperation. The EU is the fourth-largest foreign trade partner of the country, with a trade turnover of 1.4 billion euros, exporting primarily automobiles and electronics. We intend to continue to develop the projects we are implementing both in Central Asia in general and in Turkmenistan in particular. As noted at the «Central Asia-European Union» Summit with the participation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, our initiatives are aimed at developing the Trans-Caspian transport route», – the Ambassador said.

The diplomat added that the current forum once again highlighted the assets of the state. Therefore, given unique geographical location of the Turkmenistan, the EU is interested in the joint development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor. Moreover, colossal energy of the country reserves open up broad prospects for partnership in this area.

At the same time, it was noted that in the future, «green» energy – solar and wind – will have enormous potential, and the challenge is to turn these opportunities into reality.

In addition, the European Union is ready to provide investment support for the modernisation of Turkmen railways, which will be an important step in the development of transport infrastructure. Overall, the EU confirms its readiness to continue engaging with the Government of Turkmenistan on the principles of equality and mutual respect in order to realise enormous potential of the country, concluded Luc Devigne.

The holding of TIF 2026 once again confirmed the growing interest of the global business community in economic potential of Turkmenistan and the readiness of international partners to implement large-scale infrastructure and energy projects.
