The Agreement on the Prevention of Incidents in the Caspian Sea that is scheduled for signing, will foster confidence between our nations, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the meeting of the heads of five Caspian littoral states in Aktau.

Maintaining and consolidating peace and security in the Caspian is a task unlimited in time, said the President of Turkmenistan. In this context, the head of state highlighted the importance of development and adoption of further confidence-building measures in the Caspian region in the military dimension.

The Caspian Sea must permanently become the zone of peace, good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and trust, while all issues that may arise here must be solved peacefully trough negotiations, stressed the Turkmen leader.

The agenda of the Aktau Summit covers the discussion of the legal status of the Caspian Sea, the cooperation in the Caspian in the fields of economics, transport, environment and protection of bioresources, and security.
