However today, the significance of the Caspian extends well beyond its geographical boundaries. It is rapidly turning into one of the key centers of geopolitical and economic processes; and it is here that the powerful transport and transit hub of global importance, with sea, land and air trails and promising energy routes, is forming.
Therefore, the importance of joining efforts of the countries of the region, their close partnership with international organizations on the basis of acknowledging the commonality and indivisibility of main objectives and tasks looks highly relevant. In this regard, there is a wide scope for the immediate- and long-term cooperation between the Caspian littoral states. Turkmenistan is ready for such collaboration and remains convinced that the experience acquired in cooperation and the centuries-long traditions of good-neighborliness in the Caspian region must be preserved, built upon and transmitted to the future generations, stressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Turkmen leader noted that today’s Summit strongly indicated that the multilateral cooperation between our countries on the basis of principles of equality and respect for each other’s interests, the shaping of the further Caspian agenda and the identification of priority areas of our partnership – all these have acquired a systematic, consistent and irreversible nature.
In concluding his speech, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reiterated his thanks to the heads of littoral states for their enormous personal contribution to the development of good-neighborliness and cooperation in the Caspian region, for constructivism and respectfulness shown at every stage of joint work, and suggested to convene the next Caspian Summit in Turkmenistan.
