Lecturers from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan are participating in an international training programme entitled “Improving Teaching Methods for Engineering Disciplines,” organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and hosted by the University of Tsukuba from October 11 to December 25.
Four university lecturers are taking part in the programme: Muhammetmyrat Matiyev from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology; Atamyrat Altyev from the Faculty of Chemistry and Nanotechnology; and Selbi Gulmuhammedova and Aylar Geldiyeva from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Ecology.
The lecturers’ study visit aims to improve the quality of engineering education, explore new methods of teaching engineering disciplines, and advance research activities.
During their training at Japan’s University of Tsukuba, the lecturers will study how academic subjects are organized, how curricula are developed, how students’ knowledge is assessed, and what principles are used to ensure the quality of education. They will also participate in laboratory sessions and learn about research methodologies, the selection of research topics, and the academic supervision of students.
The lecturers will conduct research in the fields of developing and applying digital educational materials, artificial intelligence, materials science, nanobiosensors, and food biotechnology.
As a result of the training, the participants will acquire new professional knowledge and skills, as well as valuable experience that they will be able to apply in practice in the educational process, including the development of teaching materials, laboratory manuals, and new methods for training future engineers.
The JICA international programme is one of the key areas of Japan’s technical cooperation with countries around the world. Its main objective is to share Japan’s experience in establishing and developing an engineering education system and to use this experience as a basis for creating a new national education model adapted to the local conditions of a particular country or region.
The University of Tsukuba, a prestigious Japanese educational institution, is one of the programme’s principal partners and also cooperates with higher education institutions in Turkmenistan, including the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan. This international cooperation promotes the active development of relations between the two countries in science and technology. It also contributes to addressing our country’s key priorities, including improving the quality of education, training highly qualified specialists, strengthening scientific capacity, and introducing innovations into the educational process.
