Open Judo Championship Held in Mary

From October 10 to 12, 2026, an open velayat judo championship for athletes born between 2012 and 2015 was held at Sports School No. 8 in the city of Mary. A total of 85 young athletes took part in the competition, including students from sports schools in Mary and young judokas from Ashgabat.

The main objectives of the competition were to improve the sporting skills of young judokas, assess their physical fitness and technical abilities, and promote judo among the younger generation.

The chief referee of the competition was Geldimyrat Gurbanov, a judo coach at Sports School No. 8 in Mary.

Athletes from Sports School No. 8 in Mary achieved commendable results. In the under-26 kg weight category, Myalikhan Amanmyradov took second place, as did Begench Berdimyradov in the under-27 kg category. Dayanch Merdanov won the under-46 kg category, Allamyrat Allamyradov placed third in the under-23 kg category, and Eyup Tirkishov took first place in the under-42 kg category.

Holding competitions of this kind helps increase children’s and teenagers’ interest in sports, improve their athletic skills, and promote physical development. In addition, bringing together athletes from different sports schools creates opportunities to exchange experience, strengthen friendships, and foster a healthy competitive environment.

The regular organization of sporting events for children and teenagers plays an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle, identifying promising athletes, and preparing the younger generation to achieve new sporting successes.
