The meetings were held at the Government of Turkmenistan and a number of national ministries and departments in the framework of the visit of Co-Chair of the Turkmenistan-United Kingdom Trade and Industrial Council Ronald Nash, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the international investment forum.
The issues regarding the implementation of bilateral agreements and the current state and prospects for enhancing further effective Turkmen-British partnerships were considered during the meetings. Mr. Ronald Nash noted that Turkmenistan’s tremendous potential and rapid economic growth opened up the vast opportunities to foster interstate collaboration. Expressing satisfaction with dynamic development of cooperation, the meeting participants called for diversification of mutually advantageous contacts.
The fuel and energy and trade and economic sector, transport and communications infrastructure development, use of advanced technologies, tourism and other areas were mentioned as the priority fields of bilateral partnerships.
It was emphasized that the reforms taking place in Turkmenistan on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had facilitated creating the favourable investment climate and the conditions conductive to fruitful operation of foreign companies. Many British companies are long-term and dependable partners of Turkmenistan and collaborate with our country to implement a number of projects particularly on exploration and development of oil and gas deposits and in the banking, transport and communications sectors. In this context Mr. Ronald Nash reaffirmed once again that the British business circles sought to expand on the promising, dynamically developing Turkmen market and collaborate in implementing investment and other joint projects on national and international scale.
The belief that the exchange of views that had enabled to identify new opportunities to promote effective cooperation in line with the policy priorities of the Turkmen state would be a new step to promote partnerships in a number of fields was expressed during these meetings.
