Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin have informal meeting in Sochi

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid working visit to Sochi, the Russian Federation where he had meeting with President Vladimir Putin. The Head of the State has been seen off by the officials at the Ashgabat International Airport.

This visit and another Turkmen – Russian high-level meeting under its framework have confirmed mutual intent to continue improving constructive interstate dialog. From the year of experience in cooperation, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation demonstrate the willingness to further improvement of peace-making basis of bilateral relations in the context of global Sustainable Development Goals announced by the United Nations, intent to give new stimuli to the development of beneficial partnership, which strategic partnership.

In the Sochi International Airport, Turkmen leader was met by the officials. From the airport, President of Turkmensitan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov went to “Bocharov Creek”, the residence of President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Welcoming high-ranking guest, the Head of Russia expressed the gratitude to Turkmen leader for the decision to visit Sochi and hold informal meeting for exchange of the views on the conditions and future of the development of Turkmen – Russian relations including in economic and social spheres, humanitarian field, to discuss the cooperation in the world arena where the position of both sides are similar or the same.

Having expressed the gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for warm welcome, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that turkmenistan and the Russian Federation are strategic partners and build interstate relations on the principles of mutual respect.

In this regard, Turkmen leader also highlighted the efficient activity of joint Interstate Commission for realization of the plans of bilateral cooperation.

Taking the opportunity, the Head of Turkmenistan congratulated his Russian colleague on an excellent organization of the 2018 World Football Cup. Having noted significant activity of the Head of the Russian Federation in international arena for the provision of stability and security, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also expressed the gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for personal contribution to the consolidation of friendship relations between our countries, having wished him great success in his important government activity and prosperity and wealth to the people of Russia.

After, the leaders of two countries exchanged the opinions on priority objectives of interstate partnership in its key directions in the context of practical realization of achieved agreements and future plans in an informal environment.

Considerable legal and regulatory framework of bilateral relations visually indicates the commitment of Turkmenistan and Russia to the course toward long-term cooperation. Last year, it was supplemented by big package of important documents signed by the outcomes of the talks in Ashgabat under the official visit of President Vladimir Putin to our country.

Relevant Intergovernmental programme for 2017 – 2019 – some kind of the roadmap for three years, which practically covers all directions of Turkmen – Russian partnership in this sphere including trade, industry, energy, agriculture, transport, high technology, service sphere, etc., is also aimed at maximum realization of the potential of economic cooperation.

All of these, including favourable investment market stipulates the interest of foreign including Russian business circles in perspective Turkmen market, where the number of famous Russian companies efficiently work for many years.

Transport sphere, which in modern conditions is one of the basic segment of the world economy, is also the priority vector of cooperation. As is known, Turkmenistan initiates and steadily implements large-scale projects on the formation of multimodal transit and transport corridors of regional and continental significance. The opening of new Turkmenbashy International Seaport was an important step in this direction. In this aspect, the use of port infrastructure of both countries in Caspian Sea including ferry line between Turkmenbashy and Astrakhan seems to be very perspective.

Energy sphere that has strategic importance for both states, which are the world energy powers and have huge hydrocarbon resources, is among topical directions of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin also spoke for the expansion of cooperation in humanitarian sphere and activation of educational, scientific and cultural relations.

The sides also shared the opinions on the number of current issues of regional and global agenda, having highlighted the commitment of Turkmenistan and Russia to constructive partnership under the UN and other competent international organizations for the provision of universal peace, security and wellbeing.

Summing up detailed conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin expressed the confidence that current meeting and achieved agreements would serve to further dynamic development of Turkmen – Russian relations based on traditions of friendship, principles of equality, respect and strategic partnership. Saying goodbye, the Heads of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation exchanged best wishes to each other and to the nations of both countries.

After working visit, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov went to Sochi International Airport and left home.

After sometime, the aircraft of the President has landed in Turkmenbashy International Airport where the Head of the State was met by the officials.
