«The Rider's song» by Chary Nurymov was the highlight of the concert

At the Turkmen national conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva in Ashgabat, a series of concerts featuring young faculty members is taking place as part of the annual «Zehin joşguny» festival. The goal of the festival is to raise the bar for the creative work of young educators who have chosen a career in teaching. It should be noted that this is an inclusive initiative, during which young instructors give presentations to students and to their more experienced colleagues. In other words, young teachers take the test to become mentors for aspiring vocalists and musicians.

This time, a concert for students of the Department of «variety arts» was held in the small hall of Conservatory, featuring the renowned vocalist Begench Moshiyev. Begench Moshiyev, who possesses a lyrical tenor voice with great power, structured his performance program around three themes: Italian classics, Russian folk songs, and works by the composer Chary Nurymov. It must be said that he managed to perform every piece flawlessly.

However, thanks to their extraordinary melodic quality and noble vocal lines, world-famous Italian hits such as «O sole mio» and «In Memory of Caruso» held a distinct advantage in terms of how they were perceived by the audience. But at the conclusion of his performance, Begench Moshiyev sang «Song of the Steed» of Chary Nurymov with such deep feeling that he drew a storm of applause and cries of «Bravo!» from the audience. Judging by the reaction of the audience , the students gave the instructor the highest possible score. Begench Moshiyev gallantly invited accompanist Aysoltan Bayramova to take a bow, sharing the applause of the audience with her.

The concert program also included a performance by Enejan Nuryyeva, a senior lecturer in the department of «specialised piano». She delighted the audience with nocturnes by Frédéric Chopin. Meanwhile, Leyla Seydarova, a lecturer in the department of «variety arts», performed the piece «Oýlanma» by Ovezmyrat Gandymov on the violin. And together with third-year student Mahriban Bayramova, she performed the «Waltz» by Dmitriy Shostakovich. Enejan Nuryyeva served as their accompanist. The poignant and sentimental waltz of Shostakovich was also met by the audience with cries of «Bravo!».

When asked, «What is your take on the «Zehin joşguny» festival?» Begench Moshiyev replied:

- We were once students ourselves, and now we are teachers; but at this festival, our roles have essentially been reversed − it is not the teachers evaluating performances of their students, but rather the students evaluating the teachers.
